VISION FOR THE FUTURE
My plan is to create community advisory groups that meet quarterly to develop practical, common sense solutions driven by local voices. My passion for serving the community with positive change has been the driving force behind my thriving career in public service.
Together we can make changes to help everyone:
-
Cut property taxes and reduce the tax burden on our families and citizens by:
-
Cap appraised property value increase to a maximum of 5% per cycle
-
Appraised property value change to only every 4 years
-
Any property tax increase requires 2/3 voter approval
-
-
Change how the central appraisal district works so property owners are empowered, not just the appraisal district
-
Cut current property taxes for our seniors by 50%
-
Establish a path to achieve affordable housing
-
Change how the credit reporting system works to help your insurance rates
-
Stop the use of AI to deny medical services and claims
-
Fight to give our teachers the tools they need to secure our children’s future
-
Support law enforcement to secure our borders and keep our communities safe
-
Update our highway safety laws to protect our children
-
Stop the wasteful spending by the state, and improve the services for our citizens
-
Committing to be your representative every day and not just part time
-
I want to be your candidate and listen to you, not just the special interests
Why Larry Is Running
Larry wants to reduce your property taxes, and feels their state government is disconnected from the needs of the residents. Too often, citizens are unable to meet with their senator or have their concerns addressed in a meaningful way.
Larry believes representation should be personal and accessible. As a retired professional, he has the time and availability to serve as a full-time senator, meet with constituents, and remain engaged in the district throughout the year—not just during the legislative session.
Writing Legislation That Reflects Community Needs
Larry Nance is not running to simply support other senators’ bills. He is running to author
legislation that reduces property taxes and that directly addresses the challenges facing
District 5.
By listening to families, seniors, veterans, educators, and small business owners, Larry intends to take responsibility for crafting practical legislation that delivers real solutions—rather than relying on one-size-fits-all policies written without local input.
Health Care, Education, and Families
Larry believes access to quality health care is a fundamental concern for families across District 5. He is particularly concerned about the growing use of artificial intelligence in health care decisions and opposes the use of AI to deny medical treatment, care, or insurance coverage.
He also strongly supports education and families, believing parents and teachers deserve a strong voice, local accountability, and policies that prepare students for success while respecting community values.
Listening to the Community
Larry believes good legislation starts with listening. During the campaign, he is committed to meeting directly with residents across District 5 to understand their concerns and priorities.
Once elected, Larry plans to formalize structured ways for community input so legislation continues to reflect real-world needs. Until then, he remains focused on direct conversations, accessibility, and being available to the people he seeks to represent.
MISSION STATEMENT
Empowering the Community
My mission is to cut property taxes, establish community advisory groups that meet quarterly to develop practical solutions that reflect the community’s needs. I am dedicated to fostering a community where every individual feels heard, valued, and empowered to contribute to the progress of Texas Senate District 5.
